THE HOW AND WHY AND WONDER OF SPIRITUAL HEALING

By Beth Packer, CS and coming to you LIVE from Berry, New South Wales, Australia on
Sunday, May 23rd at 7:30pm

About this talk:

Beth Packer, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker, will present her online webinar, “The how and why and wonder of spiritual healing,” on May 23rd at 7:30 pm.

This talk is co-sponsored by this church (the Christian Science Society of Beaufort), and First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hilton Head Island.

The talk will focus on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings, showing how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science. The talk is free, open to the community, and is co-sponsored by the Christian Science church in Beaufort and also by First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Hilton Head Island, SC.

“We’ll explore spiritual healing as recorded throughout the Bible, based on our inseparable relationship to God. And we’ll look at how this brings practical solutions to present-day issues, to live life with dominion and not be victims to circumstance,” says Packer.

Sharing examples from her own life and professional practice of Christian Science, Packer will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement, Mary Baker Eddy.

Packer will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy, a mid-nineteenth century woman from New England, and how she came to understand, confirm, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand, “He that believes on me, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). For over 150 years, people around the world have also worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today, with healings of physical ills and personal difficulties for themselves and others.

Beth Packer has been a practitioner of Christian Science healing for many years, helping people on a daily basis through this scientific approach to prayer. Based near Sydney, Australia, she speaks to audiences around the world as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

About Mrs. Packer:

In her capacity as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, Beth has been invited to lecture around the world, talking with audiences in such diverse locations as the hallowed halls of academia to provincial prisons, from her home country of Australia to the UK, Africa and Asia to the USA.  All receive the same message of divine love and healing.

But it is through her practice of Christian Science healing that the words and ideas she shares in her talks are proven true.  Beth says, “that if an idea is true, it is universal, impersonal and provable.  Spiritual healing as recorded in the Bible is as available today as it was then.  And the understanding Christian Science brings to us all, makes that healing accessible to everyone, everywhere, always to bring help and healing to our daily life.”

As a young child, growing up in a Christian Science family, she saw healing as a normal part of life.  “Mum used to heal the cats and dogs and kids, whoever needed help, so we never thought of Christian healing as an unusual phenomena.  It was just a sign that God loved us. From those early experiences came a deep wish that one day, I, too, would be able to help those around me know that love we had felt as children.”

After becoming an award-winning artist and mother of two girls, she and her own family moved overseas to live in the Middle East for a while, returning home to Australia to start a successful retail business and also become involved in many community welfare projects.  Finally in 2005, she was accepted into the worldwide Journal of Christian Science practitioners, entering the full-time healing practice.  “It was those years of putting into practice the truths that I’d grown up with, of healing through prayer the difficulties that can arise in family and public life, that really prepared me to be able to be of real use to those around me.  And now also being able to share the precious message of healing through lecturing, is a humbling, heartening, joyous privilege, as well as such an amazing adventure.
